Have you found yourself at the end of your rope in math? Well, my love of math, and my skills might be able to help you. My name is Leah Turner, and I home school in the Semmes area as a member of MRCS. While I was working on my two business degrees, a Bachelor’s of Science in Management of Human Resources and a Master’s of Science in Management, I took numerous advanced math classes, and this gave me the knowledge to assist your children. After listening to many parents, it has come to my attention that many students are struggling with math. Some parents have even approached me to teach a math class.
Since, there are many different math areas in which children need assistance; I have decided to create these classes at an affordable cost. This classes will be divided into certain math levels. For example, middle school math and Pre-Algebra would be in a class together. Perhaps, there could be a second class for Algebra 1 and 2 combined. In these classes, I will teach the kids using a two step process. During the first step, your children will be able to bring me the math problems that they are struggling to understand. On a board, I would break down these problems and teach them how to solve the problems. During the second step, I will use hands on teaching. The students can bring to me any problematic areas within these subjects. For example, middle school math might have fractions or square roots that need explaining. Students in Pre-algebra might need a firm foundation in doing the correct algebraic steps. Algebra and Algebra 2 might just need some step simplification to make math problems easier.
The class will meet from 11:30-1:00 for middle school math and Pre-Algebra. Algebra 1 & 2 will meet from 1:30-3:00. Both of them will meet on Thursdays once a week at my home (MRCS Members, see our directory for her address please). The cost will be $40 a month per child.
