The Dauphin Island Sea Lab Aquarium is an exciting educational venue highlighting the four key habitats of coastal Alabama: the Mobile Tensaw River Delta, Mobile Bay, the Barrier Islands, and the Northern Gulf of Mexico.

We have two options for the upcoming Dauphin Island Sea Lab both include aquarium admission!

Option A – Aquarium and Marine Touch Lab – $6.50 (under 5 free)

Marine Animal Touch Lab

This class will present many different marine species from the coast of Alabama and the Gulf of Mexico, discuss their adaptations, life cycles, basic marine ecology, and give students the opportunity to see and touch preserved specimens. Adaptable for all ages!

Option B – Aquarium and Research Vessel – $24.50 (ages 8 and up)

Estuaries and The Coastal Ocean

After visiting the aquarium, students take an exciting trip to Mobile Bay aboard DISL’s research vessel – the RV Alabama-Discovery. Students discuss Alabama’s watersheds, learn how scientists study estuaries by exploring the types of equipment used by scientists (trawls, water quality sensors, bottom grab), the species that inhabit estuaries, and how humans are affecting these critical coastal habitats through their actions.
