Our next Field Trip will be an excursion aboard The Duke on Dauphin Island on Friday, October 19 from 10:00-11:30 am!
The Duke is located at Dauphin Island Marina –
650 LeMoyne Drive, on Dauphin Island.
Join us as we explore Mobile Bay’s unique ecosystem up close! Help us drag our plankton net, and then view your catch using our microscopes. Get a glimpse of local wildlife such as seagulls, brown pelicans, and porpoises. Then take a walk on the wild side as we drag our shrimp net. Children will get to have a hands-on experience with the catch using our touch tank aquarium!
Our boat ride will be from 10:00-11:30 am. Please plan to arrive no later than 9:45 am. We will meet on the dock in front of the Duke. Because space aboard the Duke is limited to 42 passengers, everyone MUST make a reservation in advance in order to attend. The price is $9.00 per person for parents and students (K-12). Children under kindergarten age will also need to be included in your reservation, but they do get to ride for free.
Following the boat trip, we will head to the pavilion at the public beach next to the elementary school for a picnic lunch. Bring a sack lunch and join us!
