Aunt Annie’s Pretzel Shop

Friday, January 3rd @ 10am

Location: 3208 Bel Air Mall, Mobile, AL 36606

This pretzel-filled time starts with a film about the how pretzels at Aunt Annie’s are made and an explanation of how the ingredients of dough and heat come together via chemistry to make yummy treats.  A tour will follow and finally all make and eat their own pretzels.  Lemonade will also be served.

Cost: $3 per person.

Deadline to register:  December 31st; however registrations can be made up to the day of trip, as this vendor will accept payment the morning of the tour via cash.  The maximum amount of children for this adventure is 15, so be sure to get your registration in! Yum!

 

History Museum of Mobile

Friday January, 17th @ 9am

Location: 111 South Royal Street, Mobile, 36602

This 1 ½ hour tour of the Museum of Mobile will provide great learning opportunities and a scavenger hunt for all ages. We have reserved the indoor classroom for lunch, so please pack one to enjoy after the tour. See website for more information:  http://www.museumofmobile.com.

US Coast Guard Aviation Training Center

The U.S. Coast Guard is one of the five armed forces of the United States and the only military organization within the Department of Homeland Security. Since 1790 the Coast Guard has safeguarded our Nation’s maritime interests and environment around the world.  We will tour the training facilities to learn how they train to best.

Foley Train & Hospital Museums

Thursday, January 30th @ 10am

Location: 125 East Laurel Avenue, Foley, AL 36535

A high tooting adventure for all ages!  The train museum will expose us to Foley’s rich train history and has several model trains on display.  The Holmes Hospital Museum is just a few short blocks away and boasts “This fascinating museum will definitely take you back in time, as you stroll through the first hospital to serve southern Baldwin County, Alabama.   You’ll view the actual operating room, patient rooms and vintage medical equipment.  All artifacts featured are from an earlier era of medical technology, authentic to the time period during which this hospital was in operation.” In between tours, we will stop at Stacey’s Ole Time Soda Shop where “You’ll truly go back in time! The oldest pharmacy in Foley is still known for their “Ole Time Soda Fountain” and 10 cent coffee. Our ‘FIZZitians’ are serving sodas, shakes, sundaes and more.” Fun and yum!
